MAGPIES’ manager Mark Jermyn believes his young guns are starting to “really grow up” after an accomplished Dorchester performance saw them run out clear winners at Frome Town last night.

Three goals and three points in a 3-0 victory over the Robins at the Blindmans Brewery Stadium ensured Jermyn’s squad are still well and truly in the hunt for the top five, sitting just three points behind fifth-placed Hungerford in the league standings.

Speaking about the game, the county town manager told Echosport: “Going in at half-time I think we deserved to be just in front, there were a couple of goalmouth scrambles at either end.

“Oakley Hanger cleared one off the line for us and then he popped up and scored an absolute screamer. In the first half he played exceptionally well.

“To go there and get three goals and a clean sheet I am more than happy with really.

“I think it was a performance where we really dug deep and battled hard for the win.”

Commenting further on the younger members of his side, he added: “I think all of them, to a man, are starting to really grow up and be counted now.

“When you look at the last couple of performances, at Weymouth and now Frome, everyone knows we have a small group and a young group, but now, they are standing up and being counted.”
