MANAGER Mark Jermyn was pleased with the spirited display his Dorchester Town troops produced to dig out a dramatic 2-1 victory over King’s Lynn Town with just 10 men in the second period at the Walks Stadium.

Nathan Walker proved the hero for the Magpies with two goals to his name after once again featuring up front, his second coming just a minute from time to give the county town side victory.

Dorchester’s Franklyn Clarke had been sent off earlier in the game after a spat with Michael Clunan had earnt him a second booking, in an altercation the Magpies’ boss said was “something out of nothing”.

Reacting after the game, Jermyn told Echosport: “There was a lot of guts and determination and that really pulled us through.

“Nathan Walker got his two goals and proved to be a handful again up front.

“After the debacle that happened on Tuesday (the loss against Bideford) we said we wanted a reaction.

“The players really had the bit between their teeth and didn’t want to get beaten.”

On Clarke’s dismissal, Jermyn added: “I don’t know what was said but you would have hoped the referee would have been able to manage the situation a little better than just to book two players.

“It was something out of nothing and, unfortunately, Frankie got sent off for it.”

  • Jermyn also indicated that Ben Watson missed the clash through injury, loanee Liam Sayers was with parent club Portsmouth and Charlie Davis was not selected for the squad.
