DORCHESTER Town’s pre-season schedule is set to start with a tough opener against League Two outfit Yeovil Town at the Avenue tonight (7.45pm).

New signings Ben Wood and Mario Mateus are both set to get run outs against the fourth-tier team, who in turn are set to bring a strong side to the county town.

Dorchester manager, Mark Jermyn, is also set to name trialists and reserve team players among the squad as he continued to shape his team for the coming season.

For Yeovil, boss Darren Way has stated that he will be bringing a Glovers side full of talent including his six new signings; Ryan Hedges, Josh Ezewele, Joe Lea, Tom Eaves, Liam Shepherd and Otis Khan.

The two sides have met in the last two pre-seasons with Dorchester coming out on top in the game last year 2-0.

However, the result will be of little importance to both sides as they start finding out more about their new charges in this opening friendly.

Jermyn has lost some key stars from last season, however, he has also kept on the majority of his squad including the likes of Nathan Walker and Jake Smeeton, two players who are set to feature tonight.

Jermyn, who has been taking part in the rigorous training set out by Stuart Heath, is also set to play a part alongside assistant manager Nick Crittenden.

Speaking about the friendly, Jermyn said: "It will be a tough game. They are bringing a strong squad but from our point of view it is a fitness exercise.

"We will have a look at a couple of relationships in the team such as at centre back, so we will see how people compliment each other and go from there."

After their game with the Glovers, the Magpies will welcome Wessex League outfit Blackfield & Langley to the Avenue on Saturday before they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion Under-21s next week, where Jonah Ayunga could make his return to the Magpies after signing for the seaside club back in

January.
