DORCHESTER Town boss Mark Jermyn is keen to develop a successful game plan to combat what he believes is a “technically very good” Merthyr Town side this evening (7.45pm).

The Magpies went to Pennydarren Park and secured a 4-2 victory over the Martyrs back in February, but with a big change in players over the summer, the Avenue manager admits his side may have to mix up their style if they are to be successful on the 3G surface once again.

“We played there and won there on the 3G pitch last season,” Jermyn said ahead of the game.

“They are technically very good and, if you let them play, they will break you down.

“Personnel will maybe change slightly because we are away from home but it’s about picking our fights and choosing how we play against these sides.”

He added: “We have different players to what we had last season. Last season we had a lot of technical players and people that got the ball down, played, and were sharp.

“This season we have slightly different personnel, are a little bit more dogged, a bit more rugged and we have Nathan (Walker) up top now, so we are a little bit more direct than we would usually be.

“We will go to Merthyr and try to impose ourselves on the game. We are away from home so we can try and take the game to them, I don’t see us starting on the back foot.”

Merthyr, like Dorchester are a community owned club, and are pricing the game as ‘pay what you want’ for spectators.
