BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker revealed he is set to bring in young Magpies’ striker Sol Ayunga on a month’s loan from Dorchester Town.

Ayunga, the brother of Jonah Ayunga who moved from the Magpies to Brighton in January, represented Bridport Youth through the age groups and is now set to go back to play for the Bees’ senior side.

And, as well as giving the youngster a chance to get game time at men’s level, Fricker is happy to be able to boost his squad.

Speaking about the deal, he told Echosport: “It will help give him some game time and give a bit of quality to our squad as well. Hopefully we can get him in the squad for next Saturday which will be good.

“It will just give us a few more options.

“He will need some minutes as well so it’s win-win for both sides.”

Confirming the deal, Dorchester manager Mark Jermyn added: “At the moment, Sol is a youngster, even in our team. I think it’s important for him to get some men’s football.

“He just needs consistent game time and, at the moment, he is obviously not going to be starting for us.

“If we can get him in some decent shape and, if he goes to Bridport and does well, there is no reason why, when he comes back, he can’t be involved.”

Ayunga is expected to go into a Bridport side coming off the back of a 2-0 home loss to Cribbs at St Mary’s Field on Saturay.

The visitors opened the scoring on 25 minutes when Mason Winter scored directly from a free-kick, capitalising on a slip in goal from Bridport keeper Jason Hutchings.

Ed Butcher then had a couple of chances to draw the home side level, but he failed to make the most of the opportunities as the Bees went in at the break behind.

And it did not get much better for the hosts as, after a cross deflected off Bridport centre-half Ryan Hayter for 2-0, the Bees were then reduced to 10 men.

Braeden Symes was sent off by the match official after he retaliated to a foul, leaving the Bees a man light and, in the end, still searching for a home win this season.

“To be brutally honest, we weren’t really at the races,” Fricker added.

“On a heavy pitch in heavy conditions, they just played it better than us really. They were first to everything and won the individual battles.

“It was certainly not a spectacle of a game, it was pretty disappointing.”
