MARK Jermyn had no time for sentimentality following his 700th appearance for Dorchester Town, admitting his side “should have won the game” in the 1-1 draw with St Ives Town.

The county town boss, who came on in the latter stages to bring up the milestone, was left highly frustrated as a late strike from Josh Dawkin five minutes from time meant it was honours even at the Avenue.

Jermyn said: “I think in the first half we were the stronger and better team.

“We were more dynamic in the second half as well and we got the goal, but after we got it we stopped doing everything we were doing so well.”

He continued: “As Ben Wood came off he told us there was two players that were injured, which is very frustrating. I got myself stripped and ready but it was too late.

“One of our players that was injured left a hole and they capitalised on it.”

Asked if he felt his side should have taken all three points, Jermyn simply replied: “100 per cent, we should have won the game. The players know that.

“We just stopped playing the way we could play and that’s evidently what caused us the problems.

“We had umpteen chances, their keeper kept them in the game on four or five occasions with some great saves.”
