NICK Crittenden admits he has “no immediate plans” in non-League football after Boxing Day’s Ridgeway derby, but did not call time on his own playing career just yet.

The Magpies’ player-assistant, who is set to leave the club after Monday’s home clash against Weymouth, is set to spend more time with his family in the immediate future, but did not rule out a return to the non-League game.

Asked by Echosport what his plans are after his last fixture with Dorchester, Crittenden replied: “I will probably take a few months out but you never say never in football. As we stand, I have no immediate plans to do anything.

“I am sure we will get a month down the line and I will be desperate to get involved in a game of football or be desperate to be involved. I know I will miss it but I have other commitments.

“I have opportunities to work more often at Yeovil, so I am going to start to do more hours with my job there. I will certainly still be in and around football.”

Quizzed on whether Monday’s fixture could be his last as a player, the former Chelsea man added: “I don’t want to be one of those players who retires and then is on the bench again a week later!

“It could possibly be, but it’s not my intention to come out and say this is my last game.

“I’m 38, you have to be realistic. I do keep myself fit but I’m sure it will be my last game at that level. If I do play somewhere else I am sure it will be at a lower level somewhere.”
