DORCHESTER Town have confirmed their second signing in two days with the acquisition of midfielder Ollie Griggs on loan.

The youngster has signed from Vanarama National League side Eastleigh until the end of the season and manager Craig Laird is delighted to bring the hot prospect to the Avenue.

He said: “Ollie is a young player who is full of potential.

“I don’t think he was likely to get much football with Eastleigh and he’s a good young player who falls within the financial remit of the club which is important.

“He’s a young exciting football player and certainly one for the future and hopefully he’ll fulfil his potential in the months and years to come.”

Griggs is clearly a player held in high regard by the Magpies' boss and Laird is hopeful that the deal can be beneficial for all parties involved.

He said: “Ollie is competitive and has excellent short and long range passing skills.

“He’s young but he makes up for that through his enthusiasm. He’s already an intelligent football player but just needs to play games to get better.

“We’re getting a good player who can help us get to where we want to be as a team, and we’ll help Ollie get to where he wants to be as a professional.”

Speaking of his two new signings, Laird confirmed that both Griggs and yesterday’s signing Lewis Powell will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s match against Chippenham.
