YOUNGSTER Ollie Griggs admitted he was “buzzing” to put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Dorchester Town.

The talented midfielder, who previously worked with Magpies’ boss Craig Laird at Bridgwater Town, agreed a deal to remain at the Avenue until the summer of 2019.

And Griggs, who initially arrived in the county town in January, insisted it was “very special” for him to commit to the Magpies.

“I am buzzing about it,” the 18-year-old told Echosport.

“I am delighted to have signed a two-year deal and hopefully there is good things to come.

“The club has great facilities and training is good. I knew Dorchester was the best opportunity for me and for my future and, hopefully, I can keep going and progressing on.”

Asked how the deal came about, Griggs added: “Craig approached me about it, he spoke to me a few weeks ago and said he wanted me to sign on a contract basis so they could secure me and I could enjoy my football.

“I really enjoyed my time when I first came down and obviously I have worked with Craig before. I really enjoy working with him.

“I know Craig, Trevor (Senior, assistant-manager) and Stuart (Heath, first-team coach) can help me become a better player, and it was the best option for me.

“It’s great for the club to give me the opportunity and to show they have a lot of faith and belief in me.

“It’s very special.”
