DORCHESTER Town winger Mo Baghdadi admits he has to “keep going” following his four-goal display in the Magpies’ 6-0 Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division win against St Ives on Saturday.

Bristol Rovers’ loanee Baghdadi, 21, has now scored seven goals during his near two-month stay at the Avenue ahead of his final two games against Farnborough tonight (7.45pm) and Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday.

German ace Baghdadi is set to return to Bristol Rovers after a trip to his native country over the festive period.

But with Rovers’ under-23 coach Chris Hargreaves watching his goal-studded performance from the stands, Baghdadi admitted he is targeting a breakthrough into the League One club’s first team.

He told Echosport: “My goal is to go in the first team in Bristol. He (Hargreaves) will tell me what is the best for me and then I’ll do it.

“I’m open for everything and my goal is by the end of the season to go in the first team.

“I heard he (Hargreaves) was here and it’s better he sees the four goals.”

But with two games still remaining during his stint with the Magpies, Baghdadi is aiming to continue his good form.

“It’s my first four goals and I have to keep going. (Today) is the next game and I hope to score goals again.

“When I was younger I’ve scored a lot of goals and hat-tricks,” he said.

Baghdadi also spoke of a learning curve during his time at Dorchester, with playing time a key benefit.

“I’ve learned a lot. It’s important to play and to score goals or do assists and it’s also good for your fitness. This loan is very good for me,” he said.

Commenting on Baghdadi’s quadruple, Magpies’ boss Steve Thompson believed the midfielder was “clinical”.

He said: “Mo’s done well overall. I think he’s a very fit lad. Sometimes he doesn’t always have the best of games but I rarely take him off because I have too many players that can’t last 90 minutes.

“I know with him he will last. But it was great for him to score four goals. His finishing was clinical and that’s something that he needs to add to his game.

“Sometimes he doesn’t quite find the final ball or finish but he did (on Saturday) and it’s always a great feeling when you come off with a hat-trick, or four in his case.

“He’ll be chuffed with that and hopefully he can take it into the next game.”
