RINGWOOD retirees and their relatives are invited to join former British Olympic champion Dame Mary Peters to celebrate the official opening of the McCarthy and Stone Retirement Living development, Cornmantle Court.

The event will take place on on Thursday, June 4, between 11am and 1pm

The development, offering 33 one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments, is in Parsonage Barn Lane, Ringwood, and has landscaped gardens and is near shops and amenities.

After enjoying a guided tour of the show apartments and communal areas, Dame Mary, who won the pentathlon gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games, will be giving a welcome speech to mark the official opening and will be on hand to meet and talk with guests about her experiences as an Olympian and sporting ambassador.

She said: “I am delighted to have been asked to open the new development at Cornmantle Court. I’ve been an ambassador for McCarthy and Stone for many years now and I know that the homeowners will enjoy the quality of surroundings and friendly staff at the development. Come along on the June 4 for a tour and a chat – I’ll even bring my gold medal!”

Visitors will be able to meet the house manager to talk about the community.

Jacqui Meenan, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “We are really excited to welcome Dame Mary Peters and potential homeowners to Cornmantle Court. At McCarthy and Stone we are proud to help older people stay independent for longer and really make the most of every minute of their retirement.
