DORCHESTER’S Aaron Cook defeated British adversary Lutalo Muhammad in the duo’s much-anticipated grudge match to win gold at the Dutch Open.

Cook, 23, beat his rival, who was controversially selected ahead of him for London 2012, in Eindhoven by a narrow margin of 10-8.

It was the first time the two had fought each other since March 2012, after which Muhammad, 22, went on to win Olympic bronze.

“A big thanks to all those who have supported me,” said Cook, who now leads the head-to-head battle with Muhammad 3-1.

Since their previous meeting, Muhammad has climbed to number two in the -80kg world rankings, while Cook has claimed European gold fighting for the Isle of Man.
