Allways Removals 30 O Jo’s 48

O JO’S proved too strong as they overcame depleted Allways.

Both teams began the game with only six players each but O Jo’s managed to take an early lead.

Even with pressure from All-ways, O Jo’s established a three-goal lead by the time their seventh player arrived.

With their free player, O Jo’s were much smoother in their play, but Allways’ centre Emma Kellaway made strong interceptions and worked well to accommodate their missing team-mate.

The game was played at a fast pace in the second half and Kellaway was taken out of the play by double marking from O Jo’s centre Becky Drake and wing-attack Sue Naeger.

Allways did well considering they had one less team member, however, O Jo’s were far too good.

Poachers Inn 29 Buildrite 18

POACHERS also started a player short but kept up with Buildrite and went in front with accurate shooting from Lucy Sigall and Sally Miller.

The game was pretty even in the first half with Buildrite keeping within two goals of Poachers.

Strong mid-court play from Jen Ayles helped Buildrite maintain their fair share of possession and shooting opportunities.

Poacher’s seventh player arrived for the second half, but Laura Neale, Buildrite’s goal-defence, was successful in intercepting passes into the circle.

However, when Poachers’ shooters got the ball they didn’t miss and they led 19-14 going into the final quarter.

Buildrite stayed strong from beginning to end but Poachers had increased their lead from five to 11 by the end.

Team Waikiki 33 Stika 16

WAIKIKI showed brilliant movement up the court and were rewarded with the first goal of the match.

Goal-defence Lauren Stones put a lot of pressure on Stika and she helped her team take a three-goal lead.

Waikiki goal-shooter Mary Cornick used her height to her advantage, allowing her to get high feeds into the circle.

Stika kept going but Waikiki goal-shooter Karen Pomeroy was consistent in her shooting despite limited opportunities.

The Stika defenders found their form in the third quarter, only allowing Waikiki to score four goals.

A low-scoring quarter motivated Waikiki to increase their lead and the final period saw them pull away.

Weysports A 15 GW Electrical 55

A GREAT start for GW saw them enjoy the majority of possession and get a high number of turnovers.

Weysports communicated well but couldn’t match GW’s wealth of experience.

The hard work of GW defenders Hannah Lee and Chantelle Lewis began to pay off in the second quarter as Weysports failed to score.

Weysports kept fighting for possession but with nine players, GW used the advantage of fresh players, a luxury their opponents didn’t have.
