A STABLE of boxers based in Weymouth continues to go from strength to strength.

The Grey Ranks was only launched last summer but has already tasted success in the ring, with four wins from as many bouts.

Captain Marvin Talbot won with a unanimous points decision on his debut, displaying great footwork and a confident, slick style.

Maciej Sieradzki and Michal Jankowiak also secured victories, defeating opponents from Bournemouth and Sturminster Newton at Weymouth Pavilion.

Sieradzki, also making his debut, stopped Dan McClure in the first round of their 70kg clash thanks to some clean combinations. He floored McClure after just 45 seconds before the referee stopped the fight.

After winning his first contest, Jankowiak lost five kilos in a week to take on Craig Brownhill at 85kg.

The Grey Ranks boxer took control from the first bell and used a full range of punches to triumph via unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, another two members of the crew, Libys McGuin-ness and Anthony Spence, will be ready for competition very shortly.

McGuinness is the only female boxer at the Grey Ranks, based at Weymouth ABC in Hardwick Street, and she has made a lot of progress since joining last autumn.

“I would like to give everyone who attended the pavilion show a massive thank you for turning up and providing fantastic support for our boxers,” said Grey Ranks coach Marcin Fojt.

“This support put a little extra pressure on both boxers and made them push to new heights.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all the members of The Grey Ranks for the fantas- tic atmosphere at the gym and also to all the others who support us.

“This includes sponsors, technical supporters and everyone who contributes to the existence of The Grey Ranks.”

Training sessions take place on Wednesdays (8pm), Fridays (6pm) and Sundays (11am) for anyone wanting to join the crew.
