WEYMOUTH II 4 SWANAGE & WAREHAM III 0

AFTER an excellent win against Salisbury, Weymouth continued their success with a 4-0 victory over visitors Swanage & Wareham.

Weymouth started the first half well with some high tempo hockey and their opening goal was made from strong play by Jo Ray.

She linked up with Izzy Gilliver and Claire Thomasson in midfield before finding Anna Dencher, pictured.

A powerful and accurate cross from Dencher found Mel Wheeler and she swept the ball past the Swanage keeper.

Weymouth maintained their dominance and, with a string of passes, they won themselves a short corner.

That was converted by Dencher to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.

The defensive line-up of Ray, Carolyn Schofield, Berni John and Olivia Culbreth were able to control proceedings and snuff out the few attacks the Swans could muster.

Through a quick pass out of the D to the attack, Weymouth scored their third goal through Annalise Dive.

Early in the second half, Wheeler created a one-on-one with the Swans’ goalkeeper and the score moved to 4-0.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first, with Weymouth having several att-acks at goal and winning a number of short corners.

Weymouth couldn’t add to their tally but every member of the side had contributed to an excellent team performance.

Victory takes the Seasiders up to fifth in West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Channel Division Two.
