THREE-TIME World champion Martin Adams is set to touch down in Weymouth in April and local throwers could get the chance to take him on.

‘Wolfie’, who came runner up in this year’s BDO World Championship final to Dorset’s Scott Mitchell, is set to feature in 14 three-leg exhibition contests at the John Gregory pub on April 10.

And preliminary matches have already kicked off at the pub to see who is set to pit their wits against the darting legend.

Andy Cross, the landlord of the venue, told Echosport: “We have been talking for a long time about getting a darts player and a pool player down and we are hoping to do something every two or three months now.

“Wolfie has always had good ties with the brewery that own the pub. He has been to a couple of the road shows that they do, so there has always been a good connection as far as that’s concerned.

“They gave us a choice of four or five people that we could have had, but we jumped at the chance to get him, he really is a nice guy.

“Prelims started last weekend and they are every Saturday. People need to register by 8pm and the competitions start from 8.30pm onwards.”

The cost of an opportunity to take on the England star is just £2 and the pub is also hoping to raise money for a local charity on the night.
