WEYMOUTH Hockey Club is staging its 53rd Easter Festival this weekend.

The Seasiders are expecting more than 40 clubs to descend on Redlands and will be offering a mixture of indoor and outdoor half-pitch seven-a-side games, as well as entertainment today, tomorrow and Sunday evenings.

Speaking about the event, men’s first-team captain Simon Harvey told Echosport: “It is really good for the funding of the club and we get to have a really good time.

“It’s a good social to see out the season and we only had our last game on Saturday, but with it being an early Easter we go straight into it.

“There is outdoor hockey on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and on the Sunday is the indoor tournament as well. We also play a bit of mixed hockey that we don’t get the chance to do in the season which is always fun as well. We get teams that come back every year and it’s always nice to see some familiar faces.”

A live band is booked by the club for tonight’s entertainment in the marquee at Redlands.

Saturday sees teams head into town for a pub crawl ending at a mystery venue, and Sunday evening caps off the weekend with karaoke back in the marquee.
