THIRTY-seven swimmers from Weymouth competed at this year’s Dorset County Championships, which were held at the Littledown Centre in Bournemouth over two weekends.

It was a record-breaking competition for the club as 58 personal bests were recorded by the club’s swimmers, with a plethora of medals won at the prestige event.

With stricter qualifying times than ever before, this was a considerable achievement for the club and swimmers.

Medals are awarded to the top three in each event for each age group, and ribbons for the following best place competitor to eighth place.

Over the two weekends, medals were awarded to James Davis in the 400m freestyle, Ben Kinsey in the 200m breaststroke, Aidan Turner in the 200m breaststroke, Jack Amor in the 50m backstroke and Aidan Watson, 50m butterfly.

Ribbons were won by Ben Kinsey, Aidan Turner, Lily Amor, Ellie Wilcox, Jemma Brunell, Cory Baker, Jack Amor, Aidan Watson, James Davis, Jacob Watson, Daniel Kingman, Alice Adams, Lauren Allen and Dani Condell.

Ellie Wilcox was also presented with a British Age Group medal for being one of the top all round swimmers at the County Championships.

Six swimmers also achieved regional championship qualifying and consideration times.

These were Ellie Wilcox in the 200m IM and 50m freestyle, Alasara James in the 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke, Aidan Watson in the 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and
50m freestyle, David Taylor in the 50m freestyle, Daniel Kingman in the 50m backstroke and Ben Kinsey in the 100m breaststroke.

Club coach Andy Hawkins said that he was very impressed with the team.
