DORSET captain Chris Park has called for his side to “stand up and be counted” ahead of their Unicorns Knockout Trophy date with Devon at home tomorrow (11am).

The county will host stars from Hampshire in a t20 the following day as part of a Festival of Cricket at Dean Park, which got underway yesterday.

With Dorset, who have lost both group games in the Knockout Trophy so far, in action over the final two days of the Festival, Park is keen to focus on the job at hand against Devon first and foremost.

“Hampshire is a bit of fun the next day but we need to deal with Devon first,” he told Echosport.

“We lost heavily against them on both occasions last year and we didn’t turn up in both the games. We don’t want our local rivals in Devon and Wiltshire thinking that Dorset are a pushover.

“We are better than that and we need to stand up and be counted.

“We need to take our chances and take advantage of key moments. They are a strong side and we need to be on our guard in both senses.”

Tom Smith is likely to miss both games for the hosts as he is taking part in a three-day contest for the MCC.

Mark Wolstenholme and Tom Hicks are set to come back into the squad.

England under-19 all-rounder Ben Green has been named in Devon’s 12-man party.
