THE Weymouth & District League is hosting an open evening of table tennis on Monday, November 16 at All Saints School, Sunnyside Road, Wyke Regis. The event runs from 4.30pm to 9pm and entrance is free throughout the evening.

All ages and abilities are welcome to join in the normal coaching activities or just turn up and play for free on available tables.

Organised coaching sessions start with a special fun primary school session for pupils and parents to enjoy together from 5pm.

At 6pm, Dorset Schools champion, Lily Cherry, will be running a girls/ladies’ only session as the Weymouth League look to continue their good work in encouraging more females to play. England player and Dorset coach, Matt Ware, will be running a youth session at 6.30pm and an adult session from 7.30pm.

Youth Development officer Andy Millar said: “Table tennis is one of the sports which has grown in popularity since the Olympics and, in particular, in the Weymouth and Dorchester area. “It is a fun family sport which everyone can get involved in, whatever age or ability. “We now run table tennis five days a week at various venues, and want to let everyone know how easy and affordable it is to play.”
