FOLLOWING two victories at Wiscombe Park with a further class win at Gurston Down, Andrew Forsyth has made a scintillating start to the season with his Suzuki Hayabusa powered Westfield sports car.

The Shillingstone driver took an emphatic win at Wiscombe Park in the Road Going Saloons and Sports car class by a margin of 3.63 seconds over George Harding in his four wheel drive and turbo-charged Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6.

Motorcycles were also on the 500 OA bill last weekend with Portland’s Nigel Glover taking a fifth place finish with a time of 48.25 seconds on his classic 650cc Tricati against riders competing on more modern machinery.

Fellow motorcycle enthusiasts from the island, Kevin and Sara Dewell, claimed fourth place in the sidecar division having posted a best climb of 51.33 seconds aboard their Honda SKR outfit.

This weekend sees another two days of championship hillclimbing at Wiscombe with current Bridge Tyres and Wheels Point S Wiscombe champion Ian Ingleheart looking to recover some ground on the leading duo of this season, Anthony Wright (Audi A3) and Forsyth.

Just 1.36 points separate Wright and Forsyth with Ingleheart a mere 0.30 of point in arrears.

Weymouth pairing Geoff and Graham Blake hope to compete but may well have to substitute a Peugeot 106 Rallye for their normal mount, the Westfield SEi, which was damaged a fortnight ago.

Both meetings include action on two and three wheels, as well as four, with the motorcycle event on Sunday counting for the national championships.

n Gates open for the practice runs at 10am with the competitive event starting after a lunch break.
