PGA professional Fern Grimshaw of the Wessex Golf Centre has seen her junior academy through their first ever competition.
The Wessex Golf Centre professional started the Wessex Aces Junior Golf Academy up just last year with the help of Bradley Davis to help get more young people playing the game.
She said: “I decided that a good way to end their coaching before the next course of sessions start would be to have a nine-hole competition for the older ones and a six-hole competition for the younger ones, followed by a barbecue and the presentation of the certificates and trophies.
“Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side but all the juniors thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
Six hole challenge results
First place: Phoenix Painter
Second place: Finnley Knight
Third place: Luke Camp
Nine hole challenge results
First Place: Tyler Clarke
Tied second place: Anya Pickering and Will Watts
Special Awards

Grimshaw added: “Teaching these juniors and seeing them come from not ever having played golf to being able to complete the competition is why I love my job so much.”
