WEYMOUTH Golf Club celebrated its captains’ drive to welcome the team of new club captains.
New club captain Alan Bates was joined by
ladies’ captain, Caroline Tapster, seniors’ captain Lenny Harris and junior captain Alex Johnston.
As an ex-Navy man, Bates will look to raise money over the year for his chosen charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, who aim to support children who have lost a parent serving in the armed forces.
The club has a long history of contributing to charities, and each year raises tens of thousands of pounds through its captains’ charities, Pink Day and charity golf week in August.
Thirty-one teams of four competed in the drive-in, and with two Stableford scores to count on each hole, the teams scored some huge totals on the day. The winners were the team of S Whyte, J Herring, J Bishop and A Roswell with a total score of 93.
D Bolt, H Reid, B Graham and D Graham finished second with a score of 90, while M Lam, A Ferguson, R Entwistle and M House were edged into third with a score of 89.
