OJOs 46

NMP PROPERTY 26

IN week two of the summer season it was OJOs who made the fastest start to set them on the way to a Division Two victory.

OJOs showed their formidable skill around the circle from the start, gaining them an early lead.

Newcomers to the league, NMP Property, quickly adapted to OJOs’ attack, adjusting their defence to collect rebounds and gaining vital turnover balls, limiting OJOs’ lead to four goals.

Through the middle part of the match, both teams worked tirelessly to get the ball to their shooters but NMP struggled against OJOs’ dominant defence.

Both teams were lifted by great support both on and off the court. OJOs continued to dominate throughout the match with excellent shooting from Mandy Grafton GA and impressive pressure from C Kathy Sims.

NMP put up a strong fight to the end, with some excellent work from GD Heather Symonds and GK Julie Batten. However, OJOs saw out the victory.

Division Two

WJNC 55

COASTAL CHEESE 29

COASTAL Cheese made a promising start, working the ball well around the circle and capitalising on their shooting opportunities.

WJNC played equally well, working as a team to gain the lead in the first quarter. An early injury to Coastal Cheese’ WA forced a substitution and was followed by another injury to their GK, leaving Coastal with only six players on court. WJNC used this opportunity to extend their lead.

Coastal returned to court with seven players but WJNC were in their stride now and worked the ball up court with dexterity and determination, scoring one goal for every minute of the second quarter.

Coastal continued to fight on, chasing down every ball, but were now back to six players and having to work extra hard against a poised WJNC team.

The final quarter saw Coastal make some excellent interceptions, but WJNC showed confidence and conviction and came away with a resounding win.

Division Two

ALLWAYS REMOVALS 34

NJ NETBALL 11

ALLWAYS claimed the points after seeing the challenge of newcomers NJ Netball.

The match started with both teams working well and making good interceptions. NJ Netball, worked the circle well, using all their attacking players to gain an optimal shooting position. GA Vicki Potts, showed dominance in the circle.

WD for NJ Netball, Laura Woolley, challenged every ball around Allways’ circle, disrupting Allways’ flow.

However, Allways Removals showed their experience by remaining calm, with GS Hennie Green, and GA Lorraine Kellaway, using the width of the circle to work NJ’s defenders hard.

Both teams utilised excellent communication on court, controlling the speed of the game well. NJ’s defenders kept up a consistently good defence throughout the game, but ultimately it was Allways’ calm expertise that shone through, winning by 23 goals.

Division One

CRESTA LEISURE 63

GIRLING & BOWDITCH 27

PLAY got off to a strong start with both teams making strong passes and interceptions. Cresta showed their skill, using minimal, effective passes to secure goals.

The second and third periods saw both teams defending well, limiting scoring opportunities for both teams.

Girling’s GA Kat Frampton, scored some exquisite goals but Cresta continued to dominate play with a flurry of converted scoring opportunities, thanks to June Reed consistently feeding brilliant balls into the circle, providing Cresta’s shooters with plenty of opportunity to increase their lead further.

Girling worked well as a team through the final quarter, trying desperately to close the gap but despite their best effort, they were no match for the experienced play of Cresta Leisure.
