WEYMOUTH Basketball Club marked the end of their season with their annual presentation at the Famous Old Spa.

The evening was a great success highlighted by the support of family and friends across the club.

As last year’s fundraising exercise was a triumph it was decided to do the same and donate half the proceeds to a worthy cause.

This year the club has raised £211 and will be sending £106 to the Charity Winston’s Wish to help support bereaved children.

Presentations were made to individual players from each competing teams in the club – these included:

Under-16s Tropics: Louis Weaver the most valuable player, Eoin Goring, best defensive, Kieron Scott, most improved and Henry Ackerley, hustle.

Huskies: Laura Bucke, the most valuable player, Carly Lawes, best defensive, Emma Dodge and Chloe Weaver, most improved.

Raiders: Josh Westlake, the most valuable player, Stephen Reece, best defensive, Alex Legg, most improved.

Bandits: Jeff Robertshaw, the most valuable player, Carl Carter, best defensive, Tom Storey, most improved.

Other awards on the night were:

The Huw Price memorial trophy presented to the Huskies team for sheer determination throughout the season.

The Coach of the Year was received by Jeff Robertshaw, while Louis Weaver collected the Ross Bowes Players' Player trophy.

The club would like to thank their sponsor for raising the funds for the awards, Jo Telfer for presenting them and the Old Spa for supplying the venue.

The Tropics under-16 team was delighted to end the season with the Southern Juniors League play-off winner's title, while the Raiders came away with the runners-up cup final medals.
