DORSET showjumper Yazmin Davis is celebrating two national title victories after a stunning display in the National Championships at Stoneleigh Showground.

Davis, 22, from Blandford, rode eight-year-old Zanbowa Z to victory in both the National Foxhunter Masters Championship and the Grade C National Championship.

The Ribbonwood Stables-based rider said: “The horse that I won two championships on I’ve had since he was a five-year-old. He was difficult to break in but when you’re in the ring he’s really, really, brave.

“To win a second championship was really, really good going. I like the pressure and the big competitions. Obviously I’m a bit nervous before I go in but not that nervous because I do it every week.

Davis said her attentions will now turn to the indoor season, with the summer campaign over.

“The summer season has finished so I will be going inside and I’m hoping to take him (Zanbowa Z) up to Grand Prix level.

“He’s qualified for the Horse of the Year show in Birmingham in October. My main aim is focusing on that.

“My current Grand Prix horse (Zilverster II) is going to Olympia in December. I was third last year so hopefully I can go two better.

And Davis did not rule out a future appearance at the Olympics, provided she can find “the right horse.”
