WEEK three of the ADC singles league saw rapid-fire darts and underdogs gaining valuable points to kick start their season.

Over the evening 10 legs of darts were checked out in 18 darts or less with four 14-dart legs stealing the show.

Matty Paice picked up his first win of the season ploughing past a Jekyll and Hyde display from Simon Sharpe with a 4-2 win.

Beforehand, Sharpe rolled back the years winning the 1001 shoot out in 34 darts then beating Wayne Jordan 4-1, hitting two 180s in the process. Sharpe who hit an 18-dart leg against Paice could not prevent Paice going on to win and secure his first points of the season.

But Paice failed to follow up his win, going down 4-2 to Chris Stones in his final match.

Stone also put an end to Mel Burton's 100 per cent record, winning 4-2 in one of the first matches of the evening. One defeat turned into two for Burton, who went on to lose 4-1 in his second match to the ever steady Mark Samways. The undefeated Samways won his first match of the evening grinding out a 4-2 victory over the persistent Nigeria Davis.

Davis, who is causing problems in every match he has played so far, is just the odd double away from turning defeats into victories. This was evident in his first defeat of the night losing 4-0 to Danny Aplin.

Aplin hit a 180 and in three out of the four legs he won, shot out in 16, 17 and 18 darts with Davis still missing the odd double to take the legs.

Aplin made it two 4-0 wins for the night by beating Mel Gregg in his second match.

Gregg was her own worst enemy again when losing 4-2 to the returning Scott Gannon who missed last week by getting herself in winning positions then not being able to take the doubles out.

Gannon had a taste of his own medicine in his final game when leading 3-0 against Dave Butler, only for the latter to steam back into the game and claim his first point in a 3-3 draw.

Butler was outclassed in his final match losing 4-0 to Andy Masters who hit a 180 and 14-dart leg in the process. Masters was involved in a great 3-3 draw with Arnie Quin, leading 2-0 to then go 3-2 down and take the sixth leg for the draw with both players hitting 180s.

Arnie Quin won his first match of the evening 4-2 against Paul Paice whose doubling let him down once again when it mattered.

Paice ended the night battling well and hitting a 180 but losing 4-0 to current leader Andrew McDermott, the only remaining player with a 100 per cent record.

One highlight was McDermott's 107 checkout, choosing treble 19 and bull for a two-dart combo, much to the dislike of Paice.

Coming off the back of a comfortable 3-0 Super League win at the weekend, McDermott carried his good form into his first match beating Chris Burton 4-1.

Both players showed real class with Burton checking out 100 for a 17-dart leg then McDermott winning the fourth leg with a 14-darter.

Adam McKay continues to lead the 180s stats, hitting another two on the night in his 4-0 win against Paul Dormer and 3-3 draw with Trevor Honnor.

Honnor started the evening winning 4-0 against Chris Burton and finished with a 180 and 108 shot out, plus a 15-dart leg for good measure.

Paul Dormer, one of the favourites, suffered a second whitewash losing 4-0 to an excellent Simon Churchil, who himself hit a 14-dart leg and a 180.

Churchil was part of one of four 3-3 draws on the night when he played Wayne Jordan in their opening match.

Thirteen 180s were hit on the night, with three 100+ checkouts.

180s: Simon Sharpe x2, Adam Mckay x2, Andy Masters x2, Danny Aplin, Paul Dormer, Trevor Honnor, Chris Stones, Paul Paice, Arnie Quin, Simon Churchil. 100+checkout: Trevor Honnor 108, Andrew Mcdermott 107, Chris Burton 100.
