WEEK three of the Ghurkha-sponsored Weymouth League was a crucial one for many of the teams involved.

Relegation and promotion took place after the game in a process aimed at seeding teams in its new three-division format.

In Division One, with three teams at risk, last year's league winners Parkers lost to CSSC Wildcats with Parkers unable to contain the big hitting of Rob Semmence and Mark Johnson.

However, there was not a lot between the teams as the sets finished 25-22, 25-23 and 25-22 in Wildcats’ favour.

This put Parkers at risk of relegation with Weatherbury Warriors needing to take just one set against Prison to ensure safety.

Warriors started well however, Prison with accurate passing from libero Martin O’Neil and setting from Terry Oldrid, then took control. First set 25-21.

Former Parkers' man Sean Hendry came on for his debut in the second set. Adding to Prison's plentiful attacking options he helped his side to a 25-20 victory.

Demotion loomed for Warriors but they rallied in the third set winning 25-21 helped by some great hitting through four by Ben Stokey and Liam Tewkesbury.

With the extra point ensuring safety they let the foot off the gas and Prison then went on to wrapped up the final set to win 3-1.

Division Two saw Old Spa appear convincing in a 3-0 win against an under-par Weatherbury B.

Weatherbury were unable to mount a serious attack against the organised Old Spa defence and the spa took the first two sets 25-10, 25-10.

Although an improvement in defence and attack saw the third set go tighter Old Spa were able to take it 25-22.

This earnt Old Spa promotion meaning they will get see how they measure up against the teams in Division One.

In the second game, a relegation battle took place between SYNT and Diggers With Attitude.

The height of players Darren Keenan, Dave Patrick ultimately proved the difference as the Diggers were sent down to Division Three with a 3-0 loss.

In Division Three, Renegades beat ASM 3-1 to earn promotion in what was a fantastic game with brilliant rallies.

Riley Greenwood-Neate taking man of the match for the second time this season.

Although the second game was a dead rubber both teams played in good spirits with Ultra Ballers taking a 3-0 win despite having to go down to third part way through the final set.
