LLOYD Surcouf’s Good Friday fundraiser for Dorchester RFC last April proved such a success that he is doing it all again this year.

And despite turning 70 this autumn, the man organising the event this Friday is getting ready to pull on his boots once more as a Surcouf XV take on a Dorchester XV in a match at Coburg Road (2.15pm).

Like 12 months ago, Surcouf, who only finished playing regularly for the club aged 47, is set to be joined on the pitch by several members of his family.

Son Ian, son-in-law Tony and grandsons Josh and George will also be taking part in the game.

“I came off the pitch when we did it last year and some of the committee thought it was such a success that they asked me to do it again this year,” said Surcouf.

“It’s all about having fun and raising funds for the club, and we’re hoping to bring a few old heads back to the club for it.

“As well as the game we’ve got a barbecue, a hog roast and a raffle.”

Live music is provided by Ricky Stevenson and the Tom Alford Band from 1.30pm into the evening.
