WEYMOUTH & Portland head coach Paul Harding has expressed his frustration and disappointment after star back Simon Dean was struck down by another dislocated shoulder last weekend.

Dean was playing at outside-half against Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew on Saturday when he suffered the same injury that led to him taking a three-year break from the game before returning this summer.

This latest setback for Dean comes following an excellent start to the campaign for him and Harding’s men, who sit second in Dorset & Wilts Two South.

Dean has played mainly as a winger since making his comeback in pre-season, with the speedster scoring several tries this term, including one during the 44-5 victory over the Cabin Crew.

“It’s the same injury which stopped him playing previously,” said Harding. “It was popped back in but he was in a lot of pain.

“I’m very disappointed for him because he has loved being back having not played for three years.

“It was a long time to be out but since he has come back he has been one of our star performers.

“I’m not sure where it leaves things with regards to him playing again. It’s just a real shame as he was right on top of his game.

“He is such a good player and it’s really frustrating for us and him.”

James Borrington and Joel Wilson were also forced off with injuries against the Cabin Crew.
