WEYMOUTH & Portland hopes of ending their season in the runners-up position of Dorset & Wilts Two hinge on the result of their home fixture against Bournemouth Thirds tomorrow (3pm),who currently occupy second place in the table.

When the two sides locked horns in December, Weymouth and Portland returned with a 38-24 victory, but once again the seaside team are struck by injuries and unavailabilities.

Skipper Kevin Leatham said: “It’s all change in the back row, in come Joe Gibson at blindside flanker, Tom Drummond plays on the openside with Ryan

Llewendon moving to number eight.

“Elliott May will partner me in the second row with Chris Llewendon moving from fly-half to full back and Kylo Farley stepping up from the second team to play at 10.”

Leatham added: “We take nothing for granted, when we met back in December we trailed by 12 points to nil at one stage, but the lads came good in the second half and, as it turned out, we well deserved our victory.

“Since then, Bournemouth have tallied up nine straight wins on the bounce so it’s going to be a tough game.

“I am confident that we can pull it off.”

Weymouth & Portland have won the last three matches between the two sides and are in good form having won nine of their last 11 fixtures.

n Southern Counties South strugglers Dorchester face a trip to mid-table Sherborne needing to pick up as many points as possible in their quest for safety.

The county town side face a tough task having won just one game all season and sit stranded at the bottom of the league by nine points with three games to go.

Confidence will not be high after their 45-13 loss to Royal Wootton Bassett last Saturday, which saw them three converted tries down within eight minutes.

Dorchester will hope they are given the chance to show their attacking flair on Saturday if they are to win, and ultimately survive the drop.

n Puddletown and Bridport are set to face each other for local bragging rights in Dorset & Wilts South Two (3pm).

The Blues will be favourites having amassed 26 more points than their rivals this season.

The Villagers, on the other hand, suffered a huge 60-10 defeat to Bournemouth Thirds, leaving them huge underdogs for this county contest.

n Meanwhile, Swanage & Wareham take on Witney in South West One East.
