WEYMOUTH & Portland wrap up their Dorset & Wilts Division Two South campaign with a home fixture against Poole on Saturday (3pm).

Last week’s 29-24 win at Bridport saw the Seasiders leapfrog Bournemouth into second place behind champions Yeovil — all be it by a solitary league point — but only a win at home against Poole, plus a bonus point, will secure Weymouth & Portland the runners-up position.

Head coach Paul Harding said: “The league table doesn’t lie, we are the second best team in the division, we have only lost three games all season and two of those were against the champions Yeovil and, with our seconds winning the division four championship, it’s been a successful season.

“After playing so well against Bridport, we have decided to keep the nucleus of last week’s team together with prop Tim Comben returning to the front row, Chris Llewenden comes in at full-back and Joe Gibson reclaims his place in the squad.

“Although Poole are not the strongest team we have played this season, we take nothing for granted and must assume that Bournemouth are capable of beating Yeovil and score more than four tries thus giving them a bonus point which means if we fall short then with their greater points difference Bournemouth could pip us at the post.”

No matter what the outcome of Saturday’s game the Seasiders will have wait until after the South West Division league administrators meet on May 8, who will decide on promotion and relegation issues.

Dorchester look to end their disappointing campaign off on a high note when they visit Midsomer Norton in the Southern Counties South on Saturday (3pm).

The county town side have gone two months without a win and will face a daunting task against a side chasing promotion.

The sides met back in September with Norton coming out on top 25-3.

* Elsewhere Bridport and Puddletown are both in action in Dorset & Wilts Two South on Saturday.

Coming off the back of a defeat against Weymouth & Port- land last time out, Bridport will be hoping for a better result when they play Wheasheaf Cabin Crew away from home (3pm).

The side will be encouraged by their good performance against the Seasiders last week when they lost by just five points.

Meanwhile Puddletown will play Ellingham & Ringwood Thirds (3pm) coming off the back of a great 26-0 victory over Poole last weekend.

* Swanage & Wareham conclude their sobering South West One East campaign on Saturday with a trip to Towcestrians (3pm).
