WEYMOUTH & Portland aim to halt their run of defeats in a re-scheduled fixture at Chapel Gate where they meet fifth-placed side Bournemouth Thirds.

The third-string sit one position above the Seasiders in a game held over from two weeks ago when the pitch was frozen and unsafe to stage.

Weymouth & Portland first-team coach Paul Harding said: “We have had a spell of playing some of the stronger sides in our division recently and on Saturday it’s not going to be any different.

"Added to that we have a long list of players carrying injuries, but there have been positives.

"Some of the younger lads who have stepped up have performed well as they did in the second half of the Wimborne game last week and hopefully we can carry that over into the Bournemouth game tomorrow.”

Weymouth & Portland Seconds visit Oakmeadians to lock horns with the club’s third team.

The biggest contest of the weekend is at Bestwall Park, Wareham where Swanage & Wareham entertain Bicester in the Intermediate Cup semi-final.

The Swans qualify for the competition as Dorset & Wilts Cup winners and if successful they will meet either Thatcham or Marlow who play out the other semi in the divisional final later in February.

Weymouth & Portland are staging a former players' social afternoon at their Monmouth Avenue clubhouse this Saturday before the Scotland versus Ireland and England versus France Six Nation games.

Club chairman Ian McMillan said: “I am looking forward to getting together with some of the lads I played with all those years ago and spin a few yarns about times past.

"The bar is open at 1pm and we have invested in a new TV projector so I hope for a good turnout for this one and if it is successful we will make it an annual event.”
