POTENTIAL saviour Craig Robinson is set to hold talks with Malcolm Curtis tomorrow in a bid to secure the Wildcats’ future.

The Matchams Leisure Park and Ringwood Raceway supremo was previously in discussions with former promoter Phil Bartlett following the latter’s attempts to sell the club.

However, the plug was pulled when Wessex Delivery Partnership, whom Curtis is involved with, repossessed the Wessex Raceway over unpaid rent.

Robinson, who could face competition from a consortium led by former sponsor Harold Doonan, remains intent on salvaging the Cats and hopes to reach an agreement with the ex-chairman of Weymouth Football Club.

He said: “I can confirm that talks were held between myself and Phil Bartlett with the possibility of purchasing the Wildcats and assets. An undertaking to purchase from Phil was in place in principle.

“However, a dramatic turn was to see landowner Malcolm Curtis of Wessex Delivery cease all trading and the lease being withdrawn due to issues regarding rent.

“Phil contacted me immediately to discuss the issues and in turn we contacted Malcolm to discuss our position.

“I have approached the chairman of the BSPA, and he is aware that a meeting is due with Wessex to decide site use, and in turn if this is in favour for speedway then we will be talking further.

“I am due to contact Malcolm tomorrow afternoon to discuss the possibility of speedway continuing on the site.

“Should this be the case then we will be contacting the BSPA immediately.

“Our hands are tied until Wessex Delivery decide which way they want to go.”

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s BSPA declaration meeting was cancelled and rescheduled for mid-January.
