TRISTAN Plummer’s short spell with the Terras has come to an end after manager Jason Matthews revealed the Aldershot winger would return to his parent club.

With six minutes of his time at the Bob Lucas Stadium remaining on Saturday, the former Bristol City man got his name on the score-sheet to end his time on loan with Weymouth with a bang, during the 3-1 win over Cray Wanderers.

“Aldershot have a bit of an injury crisis and Tristan is not allowed to re-sign for us, which is a bit of a blow because I would love to have kept him,” the Terras’ boss told Echosport.

“He was a nice bubbly lad to have around, that’s something I’m really wary of, I need the right characters in the dressing room.

“He had an ankle injury for one or two games and he came on on one leg at Burnham because he was desperate to take a penalty for us, so I think that shows that his heart is in it at Weymouth Football Club and he is very disappointed to go back.

“Saying that, he is probably going back to play in the second round of the FA Cup.

“He talks very highly of Craig (Laird) and Craig got his appetite back for football. He has enjoyed his time at Weymouth and that’s all we can ask.

“I will be very interested in getting Trist again. I have travelled with him and got quite close with him, I played with his brother a lot of years ago and I think they know I’m the right person to get the best out of Trist.”

And while Matthews is gutted to see the 24-year-old leave the club, he will be doing his utmost to find a suitable replacement.

“I will make a signing this week if it is right for us,” he added.

“I have an iron in the fire of someone I would like, it’s up to the League club if he is allowed out and I will be pursuing that this week.

“We want loan signings to come in and put a shift in for us, that’s what we want and what I breed at Weymouth Football Club and I think that is a big part of my philosophy in management, and it has brought me a lot of success since I have taken charge.”
