JASON Matthews pulled no punches in his post-match analysis following last night’s defeat at Frome Town, and also revealed he is struggling with a thigh problem which could keep him on the sidelines.

The Terras’ player-boss, who shouldered the blame for the Robins’ third goal last night, admitted he had picked up the problem and could be looking to get a replacement in for the weekend’s trip to Arlesey Town.

Speaking about the injury, he told Echosport: “It’s very sore at the moment and I felt it on Saturday against Dunstable in the second half.

“It is really sore now and it affected me getting off the ground, it’s something I need to look at.

“It compounded my day after making a mistake for the third goal.

“I need to make big decisions now and that starts with myself. I need to be right for the run-in.”

The Terras’ chief also provided an honest assessment of his side’s performance, as they slumped to another away loss.

He added: “The overall performance hurt me massively, it was a bobbly pitch and it didn’t suit us but we need to learn to cope with that.

“We need to toughen up away from home and we have had words in the dressing room. Last night wasn’t good enough.

“We have let ourselves down in performances of late, it’s really disappointing but I’m a fighter and I’ll continue to fight to get it right.

“We have to look at ourselves and we have to go again at Arlesey on Saturday, forgetting the league positions, they will be fighting for their lives.

“I have learnt quite a bit now. I think that I have given everyone a fair crack of the whip and there may be a slight change of system for Saturday.

“It might be a case of being a bit more horrible away from home on tougher pitches.”

  • The Terras’ home league fixture against Poole Town has been rearranged for Tuesday April, 21 (7.45pm), due to Poole’s involvement in the Red Insure Cup.
