AFTER a frustrating start to life at the Bob Lucas Stadium, summer signing Mark Molesley says his injury problems are well and truly behind him.

Molesley injured his knee during the Terras’ 125th anniversary tournament in pre-season but showed a return to fitness by playing 90 minutes against Dorchester and Histon last week.

And as well as enjoying the game time he is getting on the pitch, the midfielder is loving the atmosphere among the players in the Weymouth changing room.

He even admitted to Echosport that he has been surprised by the level of quality within the squad since arriving in July.

On his injury, he said: “I didn’t really have a pre-season because my knee wasn’t strong enough, but the manager has been really good and not pushed me back.

“My injury was a bit frustrating, and it was probably a bit worse than I first thought, but I’ve played the last couple of games and I’m getting my fitness back.

“It was disappointing to miss the first few games of the season but my injury is behind me now and I think I was involved in the game on Saturday a lot more.

“I got two 90 minutes in last week and my knee is getting stronger every day.”

Speaking more about his time at the Terras, he added: “I’m really enjoying it.

“We’ve got a great set of lads and a really good team spirit.

“The boys have been superb and we’ve got a togetherness that I think can carry us a long way.

“I’ve been quite surprised by how talented they are.

“This is a new level of football for me and I wasn’t too sure what to expect but I’ve been very impressed with the lads.

“If they work hard and realise their potential then the club has got every chance of finding success.”

Tonight’s friendly against Torquay United at the Bob Lucas Stadium has been called off but there are still plans to play the fixture later in the season.
