ONE of football’s most enigmatic characters will spend an evening in Weymouth next month as he regales fans with stories from his time in the game.

Larger-than-life former Birmingham City and Peterborough United boss Barry Fry visits the Bob Lucas Stadium on Friday, February 19.

The 70-year-old, once an apprentice at Manchester United and now Peterborough’s director of football, is well known for being a colourful character with plenty of anecdotes from over the last 50 years and more.

Fry was a winger with Bolton Wanderers, Luton Town and Leyton Orient before injury cut short his playing career.

He then went on to manage the likes of Dunstable, where he signed George Best and ex-Terra Jeff Astle, Barnet, Southend, Birmingham and Peterborough.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm and also includes a three-course meal, are limited.

They will be available for £40 each from Liz Bell at the club office by telephoning 785558 or by emailing commercial@theterras.co.uk

The dress code for the event will be smart casual, with no jeans, t-shirts or trainers.

Cut-price hospitality and sponsorship is available for Weymouth’s league game against Hitchin on Saturday and the Red Insure Cup tie with Paulton next Tuesday.

For £20 per head (including VAT) fans can enjoy hot drinks and a buffet.
