TERRAS’ chairman Chris Pugsley has confirmed that midfielder Chris McPhee has left the Terras by mutual consent.

Former Brighton and Torquay United man McPhee, who re-signed for the club back in July 2014, has been out of the Weymouth squad in recent weeks due to illness.

Speaking to Echosport about McPhee’s exit, Pugsley said: “His contract has been cancelled by mutual agreement.

“Things haven’t really worked out for him this season and, in the interest of all parties, it was considered that maybe it was best to part ways.

“We very much thank him for what he has done in the past and wish him every success for the future.”

Also commenting on the midfielder’s departure, boss Jason Matthews, who has revealed that he is still looking to add to his squad, added: “I wish him all the best and I feel he has been a very good servant for us.

“I think Chris by his own admission would say this season hasn’t quite gone to plan for him right from injuring his hand early in pre-season.

“It’s a difficult time to lose a player but we have probably slightly underachieved up to now and it’s up to me to make the big decisions.

“Unfortunately for Chris, we have decided to go in a different direction.”
