JASON Matthews’ Terras squad for next term continues to take a familiar shape, as the Weymouth boss announced that Dean Evans has agreed a deal for the 2016-17 campaign.

The midfield enforcer, who stole the show by picking up a hat-trick of prizes at the club’s end-of-season presentation last weekend, is set to stay with the club next term, much to the delight of his manager.

Revealing to Echosport that Evans was on board in next season’s quest for success, Matthews said: “Dean has now agreed a deal for next season.

“Obviously he was our player of the year this season and I feel we have definitely got our two outstanding players from last year on board now.

“He had an outstanding season and grew into the Weymouth shirt.

"He is an integral part of what I am trying to do.

“We are making strides on a lot of things at the moment and that can only be good for the club as a whole.”

Evans becomes the second retained signing in a week for the Terras’ chief, who also tied up a deal for centre-half Calvin Brooks on Wednesday.

Matthews added: “I want to build the spine of my team, with Dean, Sheps (Chris Shephard) and Calvin (Brooks) signed now, it is looking good.

“I am sure a few more will follow and I have held positive talks with everyone in the squad. Now it’s just a case of putting pen to paper with them all.”
