TERRAS’ chief Jason Matthews was pleased to progress to the next stage of this season’s FA Trophy, insisting it was a case of “job done” against lower league opposition.

Struggling Wantage Town, who are yet to win a league game at a level below Weymouth this season, did not put up much of a fight at the Bob Lucas Stadium, as the hosts cruised to a 4-0 win.

It probably should have been a few more than four for Matthews’ men, but the player-manager was happy to take the £2,700 in prize money and move into tomorrow's second qualifying round draw.

“We did what we needed to do on Saturday,” said Matthews, whose side struck through Conor Jevon (2) Stewart Yetton and Dean Evans.

“I would just say, on the whole, it was a case of job done. Obviously I wasn’t happy with the tempo in the first half but in the second half we upped it.

“They made it difficult for us to score goals but we have done the job, we have the prize money in the bank and we move on.

“We go to Verwood on Wednesday and I need a good performance there and a good training session on Thursday going into a massive game against Merthyr on Saturday.

“Every game we say is a massive league game now and it is because we are playing catch-up after a good cup run.”

Following the game, Matthews also took the time to answer questions from supporters in a fans’ forum in the club bar.

Asked at the forum if he would see it as “disastrous” not to make the play-offs this season, Matthews replied: “I would see it as a failure, yes.

“Especially with the progress we have made off the pitch, I would say it would be disappointing.”

After the forum, Matthews added: “I think that everyone that came was very fair with their questions.

“I outlined what my plans were and didn’t have too many jeers so that must be a good thing!”
