JASON Matthews is expected to once again deploy playmaker Chris Shephard in the number 10 role for the Terras’ home clash against Cirencester Town tomorrow (3pm).

The former Exeter youngster, who scored against Dorchester Town and claimed an assist against Biggleswade when switched to the role behind the striker, is expected to line up there once again in a huge game for Matthews against the Centurions.

The Terras’ boss said: “There is no doubting, for me, that Sheps is the most creative player in the league.

“When he is on song he takes some stopping and I need to find a way of best using his assets.

“I think that he had a positive impact behind the front man and, for me, I think that is probably his best position.

“We need to utilise that and Sheps needs to take it upon himself to make things happen. I felt against Biggleswade he certainly did.”

Five league draws on the spin have meant the Terras are still languishing in 18th at the start of the new year.

Matthews initially targeted seven points from three games before his side’s last fixture against Biggleswade Town.

A point picked up there means he needs two wins on the spin to reach that objective.
