I can think of a few ways Dorset police can save money: not sending out so many cars and officers to small incidents.
I know of several cases in Wyke where three or four cars, each with two officers in, have turned out for minor call outs.
And the time four cars – eight officers – have appeared at midnight on spurious evidence, to arrest a young woman fast asleep in a caravan.
A week or so ago, a motorist, presumably speeding, was stopped near Morrisons, with again four cars in attendance, taking up space on the carriageway so drivers couldn’t get
past.
We know the police hate going out alone and always need a companion, but do they need so many, or is eight the quorum.
