On Thursday, November 15 at 4pm, my telephone rang.
I answered by giving my number not my name.
A voice said, ‘A complaint has been made about you and as a result you will be sued and taken to court’. I didn’t listen to more but only heard the words ‘police and arrest’.
After the initial shock I realised it was total rubbish. Even if true, such information would never be given by phone without mentioning my name not the caller’s name.
It was a cruel scam which could give the recipient great anxiety or even terror. I felt the police should be informed but found it was a known scam and they were already aware of it. Do not be taken in by such nonsense.
