I AM writing in response to the letter from Sylvia re a Bleak Christmas, in the Echo on Friday, December 14.

How right she is on commenting on "unfriendly miserable town"

I feel the same, especially at this time of year, I went to Debenhams earlier this week, and when I came out there was nothing to say it was countdown to Christmas, what has happened to the "Bid", who over the last few years have provided the ice rink, the welcoming festive season lasers on the Debenhams front, the carol singers, the stalls, the pantomime performers would come and introduce themselves, and the festive atmosphere?

I went to Bournemouth two weekends ago ,and it was what dreams are made of.

Winter Wonderland", beautiful trees, arches, stalls, lights everywhere, the smell of mulled wine, on-going outside singing shows, demonstrations and a fantastic ice rink.

This year my little grandchildren had to travel to Bournemouth to enjoy what Weymouth isn't offering – a family day out in Bournemouth's "Winter Wonderland" and the revenue goes there and not Weymouth were they live!

Yes, unfortunately our town is full of charity shops, shops closing down, and shops boarded up ... and no atmosphere at all at this time of year.
