I was saddened to read the letter that was published about the Light up a Life service held.

Over the weekend, lots of families visited Pilgrim House and took part in the fundraising for Weldmar and had fun which is what this time of year is all about.

Many people also attended the service on Sunday afternoon to remember like me their loved one who are no longer there to celebrate with them.

I feel I must have perhaps been in a different place because the service was very sincere and the Pilgrim House fundraisers respected the wishes of those who came just for the service.

If certain members of the public were being annoying then surely the person/people concerned could have just moved away to another part of the square and to “blame” the fund raising event for the disrespect being shown is a little unfair.

Fundraising is hard work and I do hope that some negative publicity like this does not put off the kind hearted people who help raise the funds to give people like my husband the great care he needed at his end of life in 2017 and still give me support even now.
