I have lived at the western end of the Beach Road for over 30 years, and have witnessed countless examples of dangerous driving by motorists and bikers.
A reduction of 10mph is not going to deter these irresponsible people.
They will continue to race each other and other drivers, overtaking on the wrong side of the keep-left bollards, breaking the 30mph limit coming down Greenhill and endangering others, including young families, using the pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights, as well as the unofficial crossing-points on the Beach Road itself, where the two most recent fatalities occurred.
What is needed is a prominent speed camera or a speed-trap half-way along the Beach Road.
Anything else will, predictably, have little or no deterrent effect whatsoever.
