ON JULY 11, 2019, a group of 7 Canadians was on its way to Weymouth and then Exeter to attend a wedding two days later.
We had a blow-out on a rural road and the airbag on the passenger side deployed.
Fortunately, a police car was passing just at that moment and the officer, Constable Ray O’Haire, Badge No. 2221, stopped to help us.
He was on his way home from a week’s training and could have rushed off but instead stayed with our group for several hours until our situation could be resolved.
He helped make the arrangements for a tow-truck to transport the vehicle which could no longer be driven because the airbag had been deployed.
He also helped us find our way to Weymouth where we were staying for the night.
We owe a debt of gratitude to this police officer who went above and beyond the call of duty to help us in our hour of need.
Kudos to the Dorset Police department and especially to Constable Ray O’Haire.
