Following on from Ian Brittain’s letter of December 7.

I too was at Sir Tim’s talk on Monday evening and very early on I began to think I had gone to an Extinction Rebellion rally.

He did indeed make the point that China is going to plant a lot, millions if not billions of trees.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all in favour of planting trees whoever does it. Last weekend I planted ten trees and thirty five hedge plants myself to make my garden more wildlife friendly.

What we needed to know was how many trees does it take to compensate for one new power station or how many stations the total was equivalent to.

Like wise when it came to discussing Eden Portland Project there was plenty of emphasis on all the good effects claimed, but questioned on traffic issues and the resulting carbon footprint he didn’t have have any information at all.

None.

Which I find hard to believe.

After all, he knows enough to give a timescale (three years from now) for the opening of the attraction.

There must have been some environmental impact assessment made.

If you feel that climate change needs urgent and extreme action from the whole population that includes your own actions.

Do as I say not as I do?
