The Queen and her heir Prince Charles must feel really proud today, December 10.

Her Majesty’s Navy commissioned HMS Prince of Wales, in the presence of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The date chosen is most poignant, as it marks the loss of the predecessor of the current ship on that date in 1941, seventy-eight years ago.

The two new aircraft carriers are a majestic symbol of Britain’s unrelenting sea power on the world stage.

It underlines our commitment to our role within NATO,and our presence as peacekeepers, and our preparedness to administer humanitarian relief anywhere in the world, where such vessels as these two may greatly relieve the pressure on the rescuers involved in some future catastrophe.

But most of all to show our resolve to protect our way of life.
